TREKK Wins Mr. K Small Business of the Year Award
TREKK Design Group, a Kansas City-based, woman owned civil engineering firm, has been named the recipient of the prestigious 2019 Mr. K Award by the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce. The Mr. K Award recognizes Kansas City-area small businesses that show growth and stability and display a commitment to their employees and giving back to the community. The award is named in honor of Kansas City entrepreneur and philanthropist, Ewing Kauffman.
“TREKK is humbled and honored to be recognized as this year’s Mr. K Award winner,” said TREKK Managing Partner, Kimberly Robinett. “We are so proud to be a part of a community of amazing business leaders that not only raise each up and support each other, but continue to make a difference and impact our communities.“
More than 1,300 small businesses were nominated for the Chamber’s Small Business Celebration. In April, TREKK, along with nine other Kansas City area small businesses, was named a Top 10 finalist.
Robinett actually had the pleasure of serving Mr. Kauffman at then-Royals Stadium when she younger. “I don’t remember what he said, I can’t remember what he did, but I do remember how he made me feel,” she said. “I never thought starting TREKK 17 years ago in our basement that we would grow to 140, amazing, talented, smart, innovative, passionate, difference makers to join us in the mission of making our communities better.”
