TREKK Celebrates Employee Appreciation Week
By Trent Robinett
What a week! TREKK Design Group celebrated our annual Employee Appreciation in October. This year, Kim insisted that we visit as many of the offices as possible. My initial reaction was a little skeptical, to say the least, but you would think by now that I would just trust her intuition.
By week’s end we had:
Traveled more than 1,000 miles
Visited with more than 120 team members in six of our eight offices
Sent 40 Tweets
Given more than 100 hugs (Kim)
Consumed four burgers, three bratwurst, three sausages, one pork burger, 12 wings, 12+ cookies, too much seven-layer dip, four salads, and a ton of pasta (Trent)
Brownies baked and tested for quality: Too many to count (Also Trent)
During that week, we witnessed leadership in all facets of the company. So many people stepped up to plan, coordinate and execute this week. Each office planned activities, including yard games, trivia contests, breakfasts, chair massages, and happy hours. Everyone was engaged and truly excited to spend time together. Friendship and laughter abounded. The TREKK Team got the opportunity to live out our purpose and vision.
As we traveled to each office and took the time to learn just a little more about each of our teammates, our purpose of improving lives by providing direction to enable community and personal growth became alive. To truly live our purpose to personally grow or help someone else personally grow, you must have some level of connection to them. This trip provided us the opportunity for these connections.
That week brought our vision to life on a personal level. We were presented the opportunities to connect with each other, remove obstacles, or offer advice from our personal experiences. This is the fulfillment that we are striving for in our vision. This is the real root of IMPROVING LIVES.
Our leaders were asked to serve, quite literally, by preparing meals for staff in each office. This simple act of service embodies the servant leader culture we believe so strongly in at TREKK. To prepare a meal, the act of service better connected us to our teams.
Rhoda Hall in our St. Louis office shared this thought with us:
“Food brings people together on different levels. It’s nourishment of the soul and body.”
~Giada De Laurentiis
Sharing all these meals with our teams over the week did nourish our souls. We got to experience first-hand what is so special about TREKK, all throughout TREKK: The CULTURE. It is not about the stuff, it is about the culture.
When you get the opportunity to live out your purpose and vision, you become energized, inspired and fulfilled. This was busy week, but instead of feeling tired, we experienced the feeling of empowerment, contentment and fulfillment. We got to feed off the energy of the team, while sharing time, conversation and food with all. Our heart is full. Thank you Team TREKK.
