Living Our Purpose: Taking the Path Less Traveled

Project Engineer, Amy Nash, and LiDAR Technician, Barry Kindsfather, feel fortunate to live in an area with so much outdoor space to pursue their love of hiking. They’ve hiked every trail in Burr Oak Conservation Area and Fleming Park (Lake Jacomo) and have passed on that love to their two daughters and grandsons.

Hundreds of miles hiking has taught this married couple of 32 years that “the easiest path is not the one that gives you the most rewards,” said Amy. It is a lesson they apply to their jobs at TREKK.

The married duo is often seen acquiring mobile LiDAR data on TREKK projects throughout the nation. “It’s been a great fit especially when social distancing is a consideration,” said Barry.

There is one story from their hiking experiences that they hope never to apply to their work at TREKK. “I walked up on a moose during our 10-mile hike in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, and I did everything wrong,” recalls Amy.

“She was running and yelling ‘moose…moose!,” said Barry still in a disbelieving tone. “They tell you to stand still and not make a noise.”
