Full-time, hourly and non-exempt position
Construction Inspector Responsibilities
- Provide quality observation/inspections to confirm project conformance with construction documents
- Provide accurate and thorough daily inspection reports and photo documentation, per project scope
- Review and approve contractor’s application for payment, schedule of values, and contractor’s verification of quantities
- Coordinate inspections with third-party testing agencies
- Attend preconstruction conference and project meetings
- Conduct Certified Payroll interviews when applicable
- Review and approve Work Change Directives, Change Orders, Request for Interpretation (RFIs)
- Review and recommend on defective work, claims and/or disputes
- Perform Substantial and Final Completion Inspection, develop punch list and make final payment recommendation
Education, Licensing, Certification and Experience
- Certificate/Associate’s/Bachelor’s Degree OR ten years of technical experience
- OSHA 10-hour Training and Confined Space Training
- DOT certifications for Basic Inspection, Asphalt Paving Inspection and Concrete Paving Inspection
Required Skills/Abilities
- Knowledge of design standards, including AASHTO, MUTCD, WEF, APWA and AWWA
- Knowledge of client standards and specifications which may include DOTs, counties, municipalities, sewer and/or water districts
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; working knowledge of CMS
- Must be detail orientated and strive to accurately and efficiently perform work
- Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels within the organization
