Survey Team | Additional Roles: Project Manager and Supervisor
Full-time, salary and exempt position
Build the next chapter of TREKK’s survey presence in the St. Louis region as our Survey Market Lead. This role is focused on establishing and growing TREKK’s survey operation throughout eastern Missouri and Illinois by building relationships, creating meaningful opportunities and developing the local team needed to support long-term growth. This is not a traditional survey management role.
We are seeking an entrepreneurial leader to help establish and grow TREKK’s survey presence across eastern Missouri and Illinois. With leadership support, existing technical resources and a strong client foundation, this individual will have the opportunity to build a significant market presence, recruit and develop talent, expand client relationships and help shape the future direction of TREKK’s Survey Service Line.
Survey Market Lead Responsibilities
Market Growth & Client Relationships
- Develop and execute a strategic growth plan for TREKK’s St. Louis Survey Market, including market priorities, target clients and long-term growth opportunities
- Build, strengthen, and maintain relationships with municipalities, transportation agencies, utilities, engineering partners, developers and other clients throughout the region
- Identify, pursue and win meaningful survey work that aligns with TREKK’s capabilities, purpose and long-term strategy
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by understanding their challenges, anticipating needs and connecting them with solutions and resources
- Lead strategic pursuits, client meetings, capture planning and proposal efforts
- Represent TREKK within industry, professional and community organizations to strengthen our visibility and relationships throughout the St. Louis market
- Collaborate across TREKK’s Service Lines to identify opportunities to expand existing relationships and provide integrated solutions to clients
Project Performance
- Serve as Project Manager for select strategic projects and key client accounts, maintaining strong relationships from pursuit through delivery
- Sign and seal survey deliverables in accordance with applicable professional standards and state requirements
- Partner with field and technical teams to develop scopes, schedules, budgets and proposals to deliver successful projects
- Help establish the operational foundation, processes, and staffing model needed to support a growing St. Louis survey operation
- Help drive market performance through sustainable revenue growth, backlog development, client satisfaction and achievement of annual goals
- Provide insight into market trends, competitive activity, client priorities and emerging opportunities to inform TREKK’s growth strategy
Team Development
- Mentor and develop survey team while creating opportunities for others to grow
- Partner with Survey Service Line leadership to anticipate staffing needs, recruit key talent and build capabilities needed to support market growth
- Foster a collaborative, accountable environment focused on safety, exceptional client services, continuous improvement and shared success
- Identify and develop future leaders who can support the continued growth of the Survey Service Line
Education, Licensing, Certification and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering or a related field preferred
- Professional Land Surveyor license in Illinois required
- Missouri Professional Land Surveyor license preferred or ability to obtain
- Significant professional surveying experience with demonstrated project and client leadership responsibilities
- Demonstrated success developing client relationships and growing business opportunities
- Experience managing survey projects, field crews, and technical staff
Required Skills/Abilities
- Strong understanding of the St. Louis and Metro East survey markets; established relationships within the region are highly valued
- Proven ability to build trust, influence others and develop lasting relationships with clients, partners and team members
- Strategic and entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to translate market opportunities into sustainable business growth
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills with a commitment to developing others
- Experience leading project pursuits, proposals and client presentations
- Strong knowledge of professional surveying principles, practices and applicable state standards
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
- Existing relationships with municipalities, transportation agencies, utilities, engineering firms and developers throughout the St. Louis and Metro East regions
- Active participation in professional and industry organizations throughout Missouri and Illinois
- Experience building or expanding a survey team, office, or market
- Knowledge of modern survey and geospatial technologies, including GNSS/GPS, robotic total stations, LiDAR, UAVs and related processing software
