Unified Government of Wyandotte County & Kansas City | Wyandotte County, Kansas
The Unified Government has undertaken an aggressive assessment of its stormwater system to achieve regulatory compliance. These efforts will allow the Unified Government to better understand its system network, develop a system inventory, identify bottlenecks and ascertain rehabilitation needs.
TREKK developed and managed the pilot program, providing CCTV and TREKK360 inspection of storm pipes and open channels, inspection of stormwater structures, verified system connectivity, surveyed asset inverts and updated the Unified Government’s GIS network and asset management platform.
Findings from the pilot project were used to develop a long-term watershed approach providing budgetary estimates that the Unified Government can use for future efforts. TREKK continues to provide field services support for the long-term project focusing on the Jersey Creek, Armourdale and Muncie Bluff Creek watersheds. Findings are being used to develop a hydraulic model that will assist the Unified Government with system management.
As part of this program, TREKK has conducted CCTV inspections for more than 750 storm sewer segments totaling over 100,000 linear feet of pipe and inspected more than 2,000 storm structures using our TREKK360 camera. We extracted 3D models from the 360 imagery to allow for pipe and structural measurements without the need for confined space entry, increasing safety and field productivity. GIS mapping is updated and the data is used to prioritize and facilitate capital planning.
