TREKK Employee Spotlight: 2025 Improving Lives Award Winner

At TREKK Design Group, our mission is simple but powerful: we are dedicated to improving lives through engineering. It is the compass that guides every project we undertake and every interaction we have. While our entire staff works hard to uphold this standard, there are certain individuals who go above and beyond to embody this spirit.

We are thrilled to announce that Kristen Wenzel, the GIS Lead in our TREKK Design Group St. Louis office, is the winner of the 2025 Improving Lives Award.

Kristen represents the heart of our passionate & trustworthy engineering team. Her dedication to her colleagues, her clients, and her community sets a high bar for what it means to be a servant leader in our industry.

A Pillar of the St. Louis Engineering Community

Kristen operates out of our St. Louis Missouri engineering firm, where she has become indispensable to the daily flow of operations. As a specialist in asset management & GIS solutions, she possesses the technical know-how to tackle complex infrastructure challenges. However, her impact extends far beyond technical data and mapping.

As an engineering consultant near Fenton, MO, TREKK relies on team members who can bridge the gap between technical data and human connection. Kristen does exactly that. She is deeply involved in ensuring that our civil engineering services in St. Louis, MO are delivered with excellence, but she places equal importance on the well-being of the people delivering them.

Why Kristen Won: Servant Leadership in Action

The Improving Lives Award is not given lightly. It requires a demonstrated commitment to helping others succeed. When asked about Kristen, her colleagues consistently described her as the definition of a servant leader.

One nomination noted, “Kristen consistently works as a servant leader to support her team and improve lives. She is a key part of TREKK’s St. Louis community and works hard everyday to complete projects, train, innovate, and manage our team.”

In a fast-paced, entrepreneurial engineering environment, it can be easy to get lost in deadlines and meetings. Yet, Kristen is known for dropping everything to lend a helping hand. Whether supporting a seasoned engineer or mentoring a new hire, she ensures everyone has what they need to get through the day. She fosters a recognized engineering workplace culture where employees feel valued and supported.

Her colleagues describe her as the “glue” that holds the St. Louis office together, noting that she makes work a place where people are happy to be. This contributes significantly to making TREKK a best place to work in St. Louis engineering.

Driving Innovation and Collaboration

Kristen’s influence is a major driver of our innovative civil engineering culture. Historically, GIS teams might be siloed within specific sectors, but Kristen helped break those boundaries.

She successfully expanded the reach of the GIS team beyond water systems. Thanks to her vision, her team now has a hand in every market, assisting with civil site engineering services, transportation projects, and utility locating. She has integrated GIS into civil preliminary studies for proposals, ensuring that holistic, commonsense engineering solutions are applied from the very start of a project.

This ability to cross departmental lines highlights the diversity and collaboration in engineering that TREKK strives for. One colleague remarked, “Without Kristen’s immense knowledge, not only the GIS team, but also all other markets would be lightyears behind.”

Expanding Client Relationships and Community Impact

Kristen is also a champion for serving communities across the Midwest. She understands that strong client relationships are built on trust and enthusiasm. She is frequently the face of TREKK at industry events, radiating excitement about the work we do. Because she works across every market, she can relate to any client, ensuring they receive the best possible service.

Her commitment extends to St. Louis community engineering solutions and local outreach. She is a willing participant in community events, consistently looking for ways to give back.

Celebrating a True Leader

Kristen’s work ethic, technical expertise, and genuine care for people make her a deserving recipient of the 2025 Improving Lives Award. She works tirelessly to ensure the St. Louis office is the best it can be, delivering local infrastructure engineering St. Louis trusts.

We are proud to have her on our team as she continues to lead by example. Congratulations, Kristen!
