City of Belton, Missouri
The city of Belton had received numerous surface flooding and basement backup complaints around the Hargis Lake neighborhood. TREKK entered the project at the evaluation stage and determined that the sanitary system was under capacity. As a result, significant updates to the sanitary and storm sewers throughout the area were designed. During design, it was determined that the water main would need to be replaced to allow for the construction of storm and sanitary sewers.
Initially, the project consisted of 4,800 linear feet of water main, focusing only on the areas affected by the storm and sanitary work. However, after design and bidding, the city acquired additional funding to replace the water mains throughout the entire Hargis Lake neighborhood, resulting in a total of 9,600 linear feet of 8-inch water main. With the contractor already on board, the design of the additional water main replacement became design-build.
TREKK worked closely with both the city and the contractor to deliver construction plans. To minimize construction delays, we delivered the design in three phases. Once construction was complete, TREKK used contractor survey to create a set of record drawings for the city.
The fast-paced project required significant coordination with the city, the contractor, existing utilities, including gas and overhead power, and the designers for the storm improvements. TREKK also assisted the city with construction administration.
