As a continuation of the corridor development study on 63rd Street, TREKK is leading the design efforts to improve the Trolley Track Trail in Kansas City’s Brookside neighborhood. The trail improvements will provide the missing connection between 62nd Terrace and Meyer Boulevard, promoting safety for both multi-modal users and vehicles. Three locations of the trail crossing city streets will be improved with enhanced features, such as raised crosswalks and pedestrian-activated signals.
The Brookside area is home to many businesses, with limited parking available. Balancing the impacts to existing parking lots, parkland and trail amenities is a critical part of developing the preferred recommendations.
The project includes an active public engagement process, including several meetings with the Brookside Business Association and public open houses.
