Johnson County, Kansas
The Johnson County Executive Airport is the fourth-busiest towered airport in the state of Kansas. With more than 40,000 annual operations and approximately 210 based aircraft, minimizing air traffic shutdown was important to collecting survey-grade LiDAR data.
TREKK used terrestrial mobile LiDAR and traditional topographic survey to acquire survey grade LiDAR data with 360 degree color imagery along 1.4 miles of Taxiway A and 1.06 miles of Taxiway B and adjoining aprons. To minimize traffic interruption, we acquired the data during a single pass down the runway in between flights.
The resulting georeferenced registered LiDAR data, imagery and traditional topographic survey was used to create a topographic drawing, digital terrain model (DTM) and triangular irregular network (TIN).
