Miller Wastewater System Upgrades and Rehabilitation

City of Miller, Missouri

TREKK has been helping the small community of Miller reduce inflow and infiltration and improve its sanitary sewer infrastructure for more than 10 years. Our services over this period include regulatory compliance and funding assistance, facility plan development, sanitary sewer evaluation study, design, and construction engineering and inspection.

In 2014, we performed flow monitoring to help the city upgrade its wastewater treatment lagoons. A year later, the city asked TREKK to conduct a sanitary sewer evaluation study. Our experts developed a GIS map of the city’s entire wastewater collection system; conducted field inspections, including manhole inspections, acoustic sounding, smoke testing, pipe cleaning and CCTV televising; and provided data analysis and rehabilitation prioritization and recommendations. We also helped the city obtain a Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) grant to pay for improvements. TREKK then provided preliminary design for an interceptor to alleviate overflows at the wastewater lagoon.

Since 2019, TREKK has helped the city obtain additional funding for future improvements. We helped the city pass a combined water and sewer bond for more than $3 million and obtain more than $1.75 million in grant funding via both MDNR’s State Revolving Fund and the Missouri Department of Economic Development –Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) programs. These funds have been used for treatment and lagoon upgrades, a new lift station, pipe and manhole replacement, interceptor upgrades and trenchless rehabilitation.
