Missouri American Water – Water Main Relocations

Since 2022, TREKK has helped Missouri American Water replace break-prone or obsolete water mains and appurtenances within the Missouri cities of Jefferson City, Brunswick, Lawson, Orrick, Garden City, Kansas City, Wood Heights, Riverside, Parkville, Houston Lake, and Joplin. These water main replacements help improve water service, enhance fire protection and reduce the number of water main breaks.

TREKK provided complete services from field reconnaissance to final design, including survey, utility coordination, preliminary and final design and preparation of construction quantities. We used LiDAR technology to minimize the traditional survey needed and expedite the schedule.

The TREKK team faced and overcame several design challenges, including:

• Analyzing the feasibility of crossing a dam with a new water main
• Adding 720 linear feet of water main replacement and survey halfway through the design process
• Crossing storm infrastructure and creeks
• Designing around a future trail expansion
• Coordinating with the MoDOT on route crossings
• Permitting and design of trenchless installation for a railroad crossing
• Coordinating with utilities
• Working within the existing easement
